Building Successful Writing Programs – Middle & High Schools

“Building a Successful Secondary Writing Program: Meeting State Standards and Preparing Students for the California High School Exit Exam and State Writing Assessments”

Description:
The Northern California Writing Project is available to offer a professional development series for high schools and middle schools. The California Department of Education has chosen the California Writing Project to support professional development to complement the rollout of the CAHSEE Study Guide.

• Persuasive Writing
• Descriptive Writing
• Expository Writing
• Response to Literature
• Autobiographical Narratives
• Rubrics and scoring guides
• Supporting students’ on-demand writing
• Assessment that impacts instruction
• Collaboration, articulation and planning

This is a 5-day/40 hour series. Continuing Education units are available at extra cost

The Curriculum and Instruction Department is prepared to bring this series to Siskiyou County in partnership with the Northern California Writing Project.
