NCLB Teacher Requirements/HOUSSE
Description
NCLB sets rules on the minimum qualifications for teachers and paraprofessionals. A teacher must meet the NCLB Teacher Requirements provisions as a "new" or "not new" teacher in the grade level or subject matter he/she teaches. This means the teacher has passed the state certification or licensing exam, holds a bachelor’s degree and has passed a formal assessment or has done major coursework in certain subject areas. To understand these provisions and CDE's High Objective Uniform State System of Evaluation (HOUSSE), use CDE's resource guide listed below.
