School Description and Mission Statement School Profiles Willow Creek Elementary School is located in Montague, CA a rural community in Siskiyou County, between the communities of Montague and Hornbrook on Ager Rd. Willow Creek School has an enrollment of 22 students and is made up of two self-contained classrooms which house students in grades K - 8th. Willow Creek Elementary School is a feeder school to Yreka High School. Willow Creek is a ranching community. Ethnically the student population is 90% white, 8% Hispanic, 0% Afican American and 1.2% American Indian. 80% of the student population receives free or reduced breakfasts/lunches. Community / Parent Involvement The Willow Creek Elementary School has a well represented School Site Council (SIP). Its function is to make recommendations for the spending of school-based consolidated program expenditures, and to do actual planning on enrichment programs. These enrichment programs have included; Educational Ski Program, Choral Music Program, Adaptive Physical Education Program, Educational Field Trips and Special instructional equipment. The rural nature of our small community provides for a unique relationship between the Willow Creek people and the school. Mission Statement Willow Creek Elementary School, the school with a small school atmosphere, a strong academic, team oriented focus for every student. Vision Statement We believe each student can learn, has individual creativity, and holds great potential. We strive to provide students with a safe supportive learning environment which provides opportunities for intellectual, social and personal growth. Student Achievement Willow Creek School uses a variety of methods to assess student achievement. This "multiple measures" approach includes: results from SAT 9 testing, classroom assessments, pre and post writing samples, portfolio projects. History Day, Young Writer's Conference, art and music performances, oral presentations and other teacher developed tests. We use Edmin.com to track student achievement. This tracking system is an important step in our API/AYP. |
